Lost: Why is Ethan part of the DHARMA?
In the last couple of eps Horace has a child named Ethan who we assume grows up to be the Ethan we see kidnapping Claire in season one. I thought Ethan was an OTHER… What’s with him being part of the DHARMA now. Anyone got any theories as to when the crossover may occur and why
Ben was part of DHARMA too, but he teamed up with Richard Alpert and the Hostiles, and apparently after a few decades of planning, they killed the majority of DHARMA with the gas in 1992 Purge. The Hostiles chose Ben as leader, and became the Others the Losties met.
I don’t think Ben pulled this off without more DHARMA people helping him.
Back in Season 3 when we’re first learning about Juliet there’s a woman there named Amelia, that seemed to be her friend. Just before Ben sent Ethan undercover, he was working on Amelia’s plumbing.
Ethan is the son of a woman named Amy, so this 00’s Amelia could be the same woman Amy from the 70’s. Must be weird for her talking to Juliet like she never met her back in DHARMA days…
So young Ethan and Amy/Amelia might have joined Ben’s side, maybe some more did too, and helped trigger the Purge killing all those people including Amy’s husband and Ethan’s father Horace.
If you have been prepared for it or not, Lost is becoming a spectacle very different. I do not bring as a negative. I will not take up as a positive good. This is just the natural progression of what has become film Science more densely-fi drama ever written. Finally, we will reach a point that seemed ridiculous, even for Lost 's standards.
Let me put it this way – as outlandish as Lost is a show (which is not a bad thing), I've never felt like I had to suspend my disbelief to buy into it. With this episode, I did.
The episode focused on the Oceanic Six and how he had to return to the island. It opened with Jack, Kate, Hurley and again in the island, but let's go back to that. Eloise and return to his first church. She picked up where we left the last week and quickly became clear why the combination is not necessary O6 – Eloise only had instructions, and fell flat for me almost immediately.
She brought the first off-island Dharma station we've seen (I'm sure there are more) – light pole – in the basement of the church. Inside was pretty impressive. Computers, gadgets, maps, and a giant pendulum tracing chalk lines on a map on the floor. He explained that the light pole was built on top an electromagnetic bag. There were many like him around the world, but the station was built to find only one – the island. Immediately, I lost. Much of a chicken or the egg scenario. How did you hear even looking at the island to begin? And he found all the equations? Could it have been Daniel in any way?
The real kicker was when he told them everything I had to do was get in Ajir Airways Flight 316 and that's all. According to estimates, would fly to the right over the island within the given window, and would do again. It sounds ridiculous (even for this show), and I think Cuse, Lindelof, and Co. realized then wrote jump "Hawking of faith" crack. That's the last time you complain, though – I'm taking the leap.
After that, it was reaching the airport. However, Jack had a task of Eloise. He stated that in order to work, he Flight 815 flight should look as much as possible and that is why Locke was hanged – To be a substitute for Christian Shepard. All Jack had to do was dress Locke in some of their late father. What followed was bothering me a bit. Is there any real point Jack and his grandfather Ray? Would it not have been much faster than Jack just dig some of his father's shoes in a box in the back of your closet? The sole purpose that served was to add an air of chance and fate of the situation, and I'm not sure that justifies it.
Finally, I arrive at the airport, but instantly created a boatload of questions. Clearly, Jack, Sun, and Ben had all the information because they learned firsthand. Jack told Kate, so he knew. But then Hurley and Sayid also arrived. How do you know? My opinion? Hawking, somehow made them a visit and convinced them. We have no idea how Hurley left from prison, and all he said was "all that matters is that I'm here." But he had a guitar and in the spirit of re-enactment 815, I'd almost guarantee that Hurley paid about lot of money for a guitar that had been played in the afternoon, Charlie Pace. The same goes for Sayid. Did something to ensure he was being escorted by Ilana, the federal marshal on the plane. As Kate was at 815. How else have been known to do these things?
Since Hurley bought all the remaining seats in first class, the only people in the front of the plane were the assistants, Jack, Kate, Sun, Ben, Hurley, Sayid, Ilana quarterback, and Caesar (the guy who talks to Jack in the entry line). Coach class was full, but if the plane is divided as 815, the Front survivors will be together again. Except that there was no accident. Once we were near the island, a flash time and as it happened, Jack, Kate, Hurley and were back … in the 1970s. (I have no idea where / when Ben, Sayid and Sun.) Jin, driving the DHARMA VW bus, rolled up, wearing a dress color beige, and pointed a gun at them.
